CHINESE TREASURES RETURN TO BEIJING (Exhibition Held at Beijing Hotel, China July 2003) |
|||||
|
Chinese Treasures Return to Beijing, an Exhibit held at the Beijing Hotel from June 2003 displayed 16 items from the C.K.Chan private collection. They consist of Buddhist stone and wood sculptures from the Northern Wei to Song Dynasties that were removed from China early in the 19th Century. Highlighting the exhibit are two stone sculptures, a Buddha head, and a Bodhisattva head, that belong to the Longmen Caves of Luoyang where virtually no complete Buddhist image remain today. The original locations of the two heads at the caves have been identified. It is hope that they will be returned and restored there one day.
